That word has been on the bleep list for quite sometime - at least a year or so.

And PW doesn't have a new administration. I believe he's talking about Obama.

I agree with the “administration” who ever that is.

I’m not a saint myself, and I can use an off-colored term on occasion, but the word in question is somewhat of an off-colored street term. In other words, it’s not a high-class word that high-class professionals usually use. It’s a street term that a lot of red-necks, thugs and gangs use.

Of course, if you were to say “you urinated me off”, it might be a little more politically correct, but still not very nice language on a public forum. Let’s keep the forum as civil and “G” rated as possible.

Best regards,

Rickster

I agree with Rickster. This is about the only forum that I have found that stays on topic and actually contains useful information. Base off -color language doesn't add to that.

Only a government can censor in any meaningful sense. Any privately owned entity can set whatever rules they want in regards to language use.

hehe I don't want to get drawn into pointless semantics, as I am not particularly bothered. Personally I am not precious about what kind of language adults use when conversing with one another ,as I stopped blushing years ago ;\) but am happy to respect the rights of the forum owners etc. A little 'bad' language never hurt anyone - it's all there to be used as with any other form of expression \:\)

I don't see how profanity could add value to a piano forum. In any case there are better ways to express emotion than resorting to obscenities.

I come to this forum to GET AWAY from politics, especially this year. The old Coffee Room was rather rough and tumble. Frankly, I don't miss it.

Exactly!

I tried relaxing the rules, and it quickly turned nasty. Having grown up working in construction, on the sea (tug boats, fishing draggers, off-shore lobster boats, on the docks with the long-shoremen), and cross-country trucking, I'm no prude.

But I made a concious decision to keep things clean and G (or at the most PG) rated on the piano forums. This is a family friendly site, and I'd like to keep it that way.

The economy is going down the toilet, and the piano industry led the way. We have more pressing issues to be concerned about. YMMV.

"The economy is going down the toilet, and the piano industry led the way." Real nice. I supposed you want to hang 911 on the piano industry as well.

This is news - If the piano industry came up with the concept of the emergency number 911, it should be commended.

May I humbly offer a "/"

Sigh. Don't get all pizzed off. (see? Censorship is no problem \:D )

What I meant is that the piano industry was ahead of the curve - it started tanking even before the mortgages.

Think it's strange that Bollocks passes the censor and yet '****ed' doesn't....
What about SHAG?

Don't get me started....
I know this country was started by puritans but this is silly....
Bare bums and tits get a coat of computer applied paint by some lurid jobsworth at the TV stations....what's up with that?

I think the piano industry started to tank just after someone invented the spinet....I wonder who that was...?

BUT with the life affirming events of this week and the election of a president who can actually think I can forgive and forget...

I think I'll send in a new word every day just to see what the censor notices, or more to the point, understands!!

necessity is the mother of invention so they say, don't forget to try as many different spellings such as mikhailoh has done.

how about psst! off for example? I fear this could be hopelessly irrelevant to the business of pianos however...

still, my baby arrives in just over a week so not long now to twiddle my thumbs \:\)

To each his/her own, as they say.

This whole issue is not about censorship; it's about having good manners, using proper etiquette and following the rules on an internet forum. Some individuals are just rebels without a cause, I guess.

Oh, and by the way, this is NOT a public forum. Those who insist on not having any manners, using improper etiquette and not following the rules can get booted off.

I think Frank B, sharpsandflats, and Ken Knapp are generally very lenient on all of us.

Best regards,

Rickster
