ive been a final fantasy fan for a while now, and also a great fan of the works of yoko kanno in cowboy bebop, wolf's rain, macross, and other anime shows. does anyone else here like that kind of music?

if anyone has a copy of the final fantasy X music with the variation of the hymn of the fayth, please tell me, ive wanted to learn that for sooooooo long.

thanks ~Mike

Would that you had asked me LAST year. I DID have a copy of it...but I've got a new computer now, and that was one of the few things I didn't keep.

Let me see if I can't find my source again...I'll let you know. (I love the FFX theme, too.)

who wrote the variation? my fave transcribers would have to be Arnold Morrison and Riulyn smile

I admit though I only use this music nowadays for sight reading - there are some very interesting technical problems in some of the pieces you don't see everyday in classical repertoire, but is good to know in case of playing contemporary, and to be a well-rounded sight reader as well. Thats why I try to sight read jazz whenever I can as well. FFX had a couple of great themes on the jazzier side too, I play sometimes, actually. smile

I don't like much of the anime music, and a pretty good chunk of the RPG stuff either, just because it's too sappy. But some of it is really good sounding I find, which has actually had a large influence on my harmonic vocabulary as a composer, i'm realizing.

Yeah, a lot of it sounds "like a video game," but I really enjoyed the FFX theme. Actually, the music for the whole game was well done...and you don't see that too often.

I also love the Zelda theme--particularly John Williams' transcription. If you haven't heard it, you need to. wink
