It seems to me that in this forum there is little to no talk about Mozart. I think that along with all the other compositions he had done, his piano pieces (imo) were wonderfull. My Favorite is his piano concerto no.9. As i have seen, the major pianists of discussion have been Chopin and Rachmaninoff. They are very cool guys cool , but i was just wondering what ever happened to Mozart. Is there a reason for his neglection?

Mozart was a bad composer, who died too late rather than too early.

Okay here's one. I've been working on his Rondo in D (k485) for 2 or 3 weeks, and I seem to like it more each time I play it. And I'm making really fast progress, at least with the first two pages. I've also created a playlist on my RealOne Player that contains nothing but Mozart piano pieces. There is some wonderful stuff in there! I now can't wait to try some others, maybe 311 or 330 or 331? 310 sounds way too hard, and my teacher said it would take many months of hard work. Not worth it at this point. It may be a coincidence, but my recent 8-month immersion into Beethoven has made me enjoy Mozart more.

Most of the people that dislike Mozart say he is too predictable.

Mozart is perhaps more misunderstood than some other composers. His music may be generalized as high spirited, but to dismiss it as such would be unfair. His piano sonatas and concerti are spectacular, but they require a certain taste that can be overshadowed by more robust and complicated composotions. For example, Rachmaninoff, who is a good composer, does not even come anywhere in the vicinity of Mozart's output. Of course, if you only listen with modern ears thirsty for romantic outburts, then you may disagree with me.

Seems that on the average people who love Chopin do not love Mozart. I like them both though I don't like everything from either of them. I will admit to having limited knowledge of their full works but Chopin seems to do a lot of banging on the keyboard. Don't get me wrong Chopin has some very beautiful and melodic works but he does have some that sound bangy to me at times, like he is just pounding chords. I have only heard a few of Rachmaninoffs works but the few I have heard have all sounded bangy to me. I love the post on here about Chopins op.25 no.5 if I remember correctly. I thought it was a hilarious analogy using the man stumbling down the hall in the night. Just because a work by a composser is difficult does not mean it is meolodic or beautiful or even a work of art, it just means it is complicated and difficult to play. I think it all comes down to what period of music you like best and comes down to each individual person.

Mozart was a composer-performer of the Classical period. His piano technique is based on 5 finger patterns and regular chords.
Chopin was a Romantic composer who understood the real nature of piano and how to use this instrument. For example, even though you have 5 fingers on each hand, nothing prevents you from jumping around to hit more than 5 keys (I am exagerating a bit of course). Also in order to produce a sound with more impact and nicer resonance, you have to respect the harmonic nature of sound waves, that is the bass notes need to have larger intervals and treble notes shorter ones, in chords for example. Even Beethoven had not quite understood that yet.

Oh and one more thing, about that guy who imagined a grandpa stumbling in a hallway looking for the bathroom, when listening to Chopin op25n5, and finding it hilarious. Doesn't that show you how much impact the piece has? I personally rarely imagine that much stuff when listening to a piece. Does successful music necessarily have to bring tears, can't it also suggest more cheerful emotions such as laugh and mockery? The guy is not making fun of the piece, but of the grandpa. That's how much impact this particular piece had on him.
