Hurray for Arizona! I was so happy to see them win. I love New York but I hate New York Yankees. I think that is something we can all agree on here.

I wept bitter tears after Soriano's homer in the eighth and thought that all was lost.

But lo and behold!

How could Rivera blow it like that? I hate the Yankees and everything, but there are probably at least 25 million people clamoring for his head on a pike. Poor guy...

I as well thought that it was all over when that home run was hit. But, the D-Backs came back to win it. Interesting how the the World Sereis was intense all the way down to the final inning of the final game.

Indeed Brendan, I told the folks I was watching it with that Rivera was too good for the D-backs to come back on him. After all, he is #1 all-time for lowest ERA as a relief closer. I do feel bad for him, but I was also feeling pretty bad for Schilling before they came back.

I am a Yankee fan, and I have to tip my hat to the D-backs. They beat Mariano and thus earned the right to call themselves champs.

Just think how Kim must have felt though. Two blown saves in New York. I hope he doesn't turn into another Wohlers. That could potentially be devastating to a reliever's self-esteem.

At any rate, I too am glad that the D-backs beat the Yanks. It's nice to see someone else at the top of the baseball world.

OK, I'll stay on thread... Ray Charles' Steinway bumped into a big divot while rolling out onto the field during Game 2.

WHILE PLAYING MY PIANO I happened to watch the 7th game of the world series. It was absolutely amazing!! (especially since I was at the BOB...)

Phoenix is nuts right now; it's our first championship at anything "major." (Univ of Arizona won the NCAA basketball tournament a few years back but they are, after all, in Tucson--gasp).

It was a great series, made even better by the fact that WE WON!! and beat Rivera, the best of the best.

Hmmm, I thought everyone outside of Phoenix wanted the Yankees to win, as a patriotic gesture? My favorite sign: "We love New York, but this is BASEBALL!"

But anyway, I'm from San Diego, and after the spanking the Yanks gave us in '98, I was very happy indeed to see an NL team put them in their place.

So there were, indeed, D-Backs supporters outside of Phoenix.

Well, if I were an AL kind of gal, I'd be a Red Sox fan, so that TELLS you how I feel about the Yankees!

BTW I recently saw Ray Charles at a WTC memorial, he was playing a Steinway D that was so juiced up it sounded like a Yamaha on Steroids......He was great.

I know that this goes slightly off the topic here but I am related to a baseball "legend". How many of you have ever heard of pitcher Carl Mays? He was a pitcher for the New York Yankees. On August 16, 1920, during the 5th inning of a game, Carl Mays stuck White Sox player Ray Chapman on his temple with a fast ball. Chapman soon after collapsed and died within 24 hours of the accident. The accident led to the invention of the batting helmat. Despite the loss of Ray Chapman, the White Sox went on to win that years World Series. (Good for them. They deserved a little cheering up). Carl Mays is my 5th cousin, so its a distant relation, but its still pretty cool. Hes not the only "famous" person that I'm related to but I'll not talk about those ones for now since they are not relevant to the topic at all. And for those of you who may be wondering: NO. I am not related to Willie Mays.

"Famous"......or "infamous"?

Well, that could be looked at a number of different ways. He is "famous" for being an exellent Yankee pitcher. Some even say he was "famous" for delivering the pitch that killed Ray Chapman, while others call it "infamous". I might add that the fatal pitch haunted Carl for the rest of his career and life. I've done a little bit of research on him in before. If you type "Carl Mays and Ray Chapman" into a search engine, you will find some web sites that give a bit of information on both players, including the fatal pitch to Chapman. Some might say that he was "famous" for pitching the ball that led to the invention of the batting helmet. As I said, its all in the eye of the beholder. What do you see him as. Famous, infamous, or a little of both maybe?
