If I knew how to transfer my question from the Teacher's Forum this Forum == anyway here goes, I've been taking music lessons for about seven years and would like to find well-written music to play just for fun. Most music made "easier"leaves much to be desired. I borrowed Amy Appleby's America's Favorite Songs (not the exact title) from the library and it left much to be desired. John Brimhall is the best so far - it would be great to find Broadway, sing-a-longs, classics etc. that makes musical sense. A lot of the Broadway books have a line for the singer and for the accompianist - to be honest that is something I can't play. My father who was an accompianist could play anything and made it look so easy and I now realize it ain't so. Hooray for good accompianists. Thanks for any suggestions.

I reviewed a collection of Eugenie Rocherolle's Jerome Kern arrangements and it was very well done. She's also done some Beatles tunes and jazz standards. They're published by Hal Leonard and definitely worth a look!

musdan,
Based on the examples you give, I would recommend posting your question in the Non-Classical forum, too.

Dan, Try this easy, beautiful Largo by Alfredo D'Asdia (1871-1949): http://alfredodasdia.blogspot.com/ Scroll down and click on Suite - Largo to download the score. It's just lovely in its elegant simplicity. Mel

try Daqiun's Le Coucou. it's not very hard and has a lot of repetitions, but it always sounds good. here is a good performance of it: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yI238gDmUXg&feature=related

Try some of the pieces from Bartok's Mikrokosmos they serve as both good learning pieces as well as fun music to play. (I.E. some polyrhythmic stuff as well as polytonal stuff). It's interesting to say the least and not enough people play this stuff.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. Madtc2000 - my teacher is trying to win me over to Bartok - she likes his music. Danny, I'm behind the times - I have dial-up - I tried to find sheet music but haven't been able to turn anything up as yet. Signa, I'll give Le Cou Cou a try. Thanks again

Dan, Here's the D'Asdia Largo: http://www.mediafire.com/file/cymnquwxwmm/D\'Asdia Largo per Pianoforte 1871-1949.pdf It's only 270KB, so it should be easy to download. Another piece that's well-written, easy to play, and beautiful is Vasily Kalinnikov's Chanson Triste. It's part of his wonderful 7 Pieces For Piano. Mel
