Tell me I'm not crazy!

My piano technician did a several hours of action regulation last week. Things are in very fine condition now (all that tremolo garbage that Liszt wrote makes more sense when one's repetition levers are just right).

But, I spent the whole weekend rolling my bench knobs up and down. I'm having trouble finding just the right height for the changes in my action regulation (I think it needs to be two and a half turns higher than my old favorite height).

Is anybody else having difficulty getting their bench height right?

Oh my! Same problem here too!! I just took delivery of my Piano and i can't seem to get the correct height! After playing on the piano for 5 minutes, my back starts to ache.( Hey! I'm not old!) Oh my..I can't really get the proper height but i remembered somewhere that the most common ideal height is 19cm from the top of the keys to the seat.

I thought the recommended bench height is when your arms, between elbow and wrist, are parallel to the floor.

I've noticed that very small changes to the correct overall height can help compensate for the degree of heaviness or lightness of the action. It's not practical to try to "micro-adjust" this for a piano one doesn't play often, but at home, one can fiddle with the bench knobs (or sit up straighter or slouch).

For those with back problems, there used to be adjustable chairs with a slightly sloped seat called "recital" chairs. I think Yamaha still makes these.

Zelda, run to your grocery store. . .
The latest National Enquirer has this headline:

"Di, JFK, Elvis and Glenn Gould Return to Earth On A Spaceship With A Great New Diet!"

You guys should be comedians, not pianists.
Or maybe you should do a Victor Borge type deal and combine the two.

HA!
