I'm beginning to think that I'm starting to make a breakthrough into more advanced repertoire. Next month, I'm going to a day long festaval where i'll be playing in 2 masterclasses and a concert. I never thought that I'd be where I am today, and I'm just at the beginning of something I want to do for the rest of my life.

I'm playing in my first competition in December, the winners get to play with an orchestra!

So, what do you think helps a pianist that is just starting their journey to upper repertoire succeed?

I know that I started a thread about a younger generation, but it is a fact that wisdom comes with age. You all have "been there, and done that". Most of us teens come here to learn from you guys!

the key is always to want to suceed, to have passion, determination

the rest is up to you to get done and be really commited to getting your practise done

Oh... and play LOTS of competitions! I find them totally different to playing in concerts and recitals. The 'competitive' air to competitions often plays on my nerves, and I still need to get used to it.
