Cramer & Hanon--both have virtues. Nothing against Czerny as 740 and 299 are good too. Just not necessary to do both Czerny and Cramer.

doesn't really matter which ones you do, so long as you are using good technique while practicing them.

I used Czerny's 40 Daily Exercises, and found them very helpful (and difficult). Also check out Isidor Phillip's Exercises for the Independence of Fingers (be careful with it though, as it can be physically dangerous if misused)

Thank you.
I've played some hanon before.. and it is great in that way that you learn the exercises in just a few minutes. Don't need no time learning... but hanon is Oh so Boring oh so boring.
Cramer and czerny is music and the patterns in their etudes seem to be more likely to be find in other music as (chopin, beethoven etc)
Im trying to catch up with the fundamental fingertechnuiqe I skipped since I jumped directly to Chopin and Rachmaninoff when I started to play piano. (and I feel that there are plenty of things missing in my technuiqe)
thanks smile
