Naida Cole is beautiful, but she also has some real talent. In my book she ranks as one of the most talented up-and-coming young pianists out there.

That anyone should propose stripping these women - or any others - and then displaying them publicly in their bathing suits is pretty insulting to women in general and disrespectful to these professionals in particular. That you further want to "make some bucks" from this project is really beyond the pale!

I would not be surprised if some of the women posters in this forum find the premise of this thread highly offensive!

Bathing suits are not underwear, but are made for "public display". We all wear them. Some of us like wearing them. While a musical professional does not want to be judged on her performance on the basis of her looks, there are many who don't mind being looked at and enjoyed. Fame brings a certain amount of...erm...exposure. If you check out many of the publicity photos chosen for use by the artists suggested by the men of the forum, it's crystal clear that they don't have any problem at all with being photographed in sexy clothes and sexy poses.

As for making money...I think the idea was a little bit of humor, you know? A classical pianist swimsuit calendar plays to kind of a narrow demographic. Johnmoolight's handcuff calendar is even more of a niche market product, but may prove to be the better seller.

It is worth remembering that we admire these women as pianists first and babes as an added treat. No harm no foul.

We're men.. as a whole we act like men, we're supposed to act like men and with any luck we will always act like men. It's not our design, and in my experience most women prefer us, within reason, that way.

As I have generated more controversy than I intended (not to mention ruffled a few peoples' feathers w/ this idea of mine) I will address points raised by many of the members:

BruceD: sorry I offended you. Naturally, I wanted all this to be taken in good clean fun. The original intention was to draw our members to the beauty of some of the remarkable female pianists out there. I think Lara St. John has demonstrated posing nude on her album cover that art is not cheapened merely by injecting a little visual **** (can't think of the noun I want). And if you look at some of these girls' websites you will find that many of them are, to varying degrees, trying to capitalize on their good looks anyway. Today beauty sells. That's a fact. When the artist is a superb musician, it just enhances the music, IMHO. Course, I could have buckled and suggested Gina Bachauer, but she would have filled up January, Febuary, March AND April. So you can see why I stuck w/ thin.

Now that might be a little too kinky even for my tastes, John, and my tastes sometimes get near the bottom of the barrel. I doubt I could sell the girls on the idea anyway. I mean they might agree to get into bathing suits, but once it turns into a S&M/B&D-fest they might go screaming back to their practice rooms.
