I've been contemplating a project for 1) making some bucks & 2) bringing the babes of the piano out into the open so the average Joe (hey, I resent that, Joe!) can see what's he's missing. My nominations for the 12 loveliest months:
Miss Jan: Sophie Mautner ( http://www.sophiemautner.com )
Miss Feb: Naida Cole ( http://www.naidacole.com )
Miss March: Valentina Lisitsa ( http://www.valentinalisitsa.com )
Miss April: Helene Grimaud
Miss May: Katrine Gislinge ( http://www.katrinegislinge.dk )
Miss June: Anna Gourari ( http://www.gourari.com )
Misses July: Desirae & Deondra Brown (these girls you just gotta see: http://beautyinmusic.com/artist_pages/brown_sisters.htm
Miss August: Ekaterina Mechetina
Miss Sept: Myleene Klass ( http://www.myleeneklass.co.uk - my mystery girl from another post - ok, so I'm stretching myself thin w/ this one, Ha!)
Miss Oct: Natasha Paremski ( http://www.natashaparemski.com )
Miss Nov: Nadine Schuster ( http://www.nadine-schuster.de )
Miss Dec: Salome Scheidegger ( http://www.salomes.com - want blond hair, blue eyes - she's your girl!)

Now! The only trick is to convince them that posing in bathing suits is in the best interests of their careers - no small feat! Any thoughts? Any ones I missed? My sources: BeautyinMusic.com, PianoWomen.com, organistenetpianisten.com.
PS Now you can see why the girls of PianoWorld hate my guts & never respond to my posts. When they do, the most common snappy comeback is always: "Oh, we don't hate you, Joe, we pity you!" wink

Joe, Brilliant!!
I like them all. The link to the Schuster one doesn't work from my computer.
There are one or two I might replace with someone else. Anyway, I'd buy a copy. thumb

I agree, Elena should be in there somewhere.
I would put her in place of miss June. IMO.
Mautner gets my top vote of the ones you have showcased for us.

John, I'm w/ you. sophie mautner is tops on my list 2!!!!! Here's an editorial I wrote for a classical music website a couple of years ago:

Can A Concert Pianist be TOO Beautiful? by Joe Townley on 2/8/2002 8:59:07 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The answer is a resounding YES!!! If her name happens to be Sophie Mautner, a young German pianist who is setting Europe aflame with her combination of dazzling beauty and fingers of steel. Can her good looks be overstated? The answer is a resounding NO!!! Sophie Mautner has a face and figure that could rival that of a $10,000/hour professional model. In fact, were it not for her prowess at a keyboard, she would just as easily have found success gracing the covers of Europe's most prestigious fashion magazines. But the larger question becomes: can a pianist of such astonish sensuality be taken seriously as an artist? The answer is a resounding MAYBE!!! Woman pianists who could easily be mistaken for movie princesses often have to work doubly hard to be taken seriously as artists, a sometimes daunting task, since it's difficult, if not impossible, for men attending one of her concerts to concentrate on the music when their pulse is racing along at twice its normal speed just staring at her. Am I exaggerating when I say that she is the most exquisite creature gracing the concert stage at present? Well, you be the judge. Go to her website, www.sophiemautner.com, check out her photo gallery and be prepared to be mesmerized.

Hi Elena. You definitely belong there (Miss June, maybe?) but as we're both members of this board I didn't want to insult you with this petty drivel. It was all done in fun. And which pianists are already in bathing suits?? As I am a tad petty, anyhow, (just a tad????) I'd lower myself to take a peek. wink
