I'm a fan of his Preludes, which can be performed seperately, or as an entire set. If those don't appeal there's lot of arrangments of I've Got Rhythm, etc, or even Rhapsody in Blue (though it's long)

Excellent choice with the ballade, by the way.

There are at least two versions of Sweet and Low Down. One is two pages long and is an arrangement by Gershwin from his Songbook(his own arrangements of around 16 of his songs). Another longer version is the one Wodehouse transcribed off Gerwhwin's recordings.

You can find the short version here:

Gershwin's own piano solo arrangement of "I Got Rhythm" (in Db Major) is a great performance piece smile

www.sheetmusicplus.com

"Gershwin At The Keyboard" -

"This is the classic Gershwin Songbook"

"For people not familiar with all of Gershwin's works, shortly before he died, Gershwin wrote his 'Songbook', which were short, lively, sometimes difficult, transcriptions of some of his most famous songs. This is it in its entirety. There are several recordings of this work, which are all fantastic, and makes this sheet music even better, as you can compare yourself against the pros."

I must say, I Got Rhythm is the perfect solo - the one in D flat major. It's short and very entertaining. I did mine in St.9 It's in the Trinity College gr.8 Solo Piano book for 2002-2003. You've got to do it!

Musical Greetings
