Shakin said that for most males the fourth finger is longer thn the second finger but for most females it is the opposite. It works in my case. On my right hand my fourth finger is only a little longer thn my second finger, but on my left hand my fourth finger is much longer than my second finger.

Thats true, my science teacher said it was something to do with when we were forming into a gender... can't remember the details of it, but there's some scientific reason for it, maybe someone can help

So here's the counter example checking in. I'm female but my fourth finger (on both hands) is longer than my second finger, by probably a third of a fingernail.

My little finger doesn't reach the knuckle of my fourth finger, tho.

It's all about testosterone (as many things are with men ;-)/.

See this on agression , this on depression , and this on other attributes which may be indicated by relative finger lengths.

None of them refer to pianists though.

I can't find that anywhere used as a unit of measurement.

Oh, I'm sorry - I must have momentarily reverted to my previous life, when I was Queen, and all the measurements were standardized on my my body parts eek laugh
