Hey people! I am Jeff Morris, I love playing piano but I am quite a beginner. I've had a year of self-directed piano class with a teacher who showed me the basics (major chords). I have been playing piano for two years and know the first page of Bach's Solfeggietto, but I have a serious problem with getting frustrated with playing sheet music. For some reason, I prefer to play by Guitar chords (can sight read that)and using my voice. I would like to know what is everyone's opinion on that is. Is there like this consolidated ideal that a piano player must strictly, or mainly, play sheet music notation and classical pieces?
Is there a way to not start pulling my hair out whenever I try to learn a piece by sheet music.
my "repitore" is: 1st page of Solfeggietto, Bach
1 1/2 page of Kingdom Heart's Theme (something like Haiku.. in English it's "Simple and Clean")
Loser, Three Doors Down
Let Her Cry, Hootie and the Blowfish
Freshmen, The Verve Pipe
Harvest of Sorrow, Blind Guardian
I can also play random little tunes like Harry Potter Theme and a little bit of stairway to heaven.
