There's a great little piece by Liszt that Rachmaninoff once recorded. It can be found pretty easily on the internet, but I've no idea of its name...the whole piece is about 3 mins long and is very skittish, with lots of acciacaturas in the introduction and lots of repeated notes at the end. Rachmaninoff's rendition of it is quite beautiful too, but I've not a clue as to what piece it is, being unfamiliar with a lot of Lszt's work. Are there any experts out there who might be able to tell me??

Hello and Merry Christmas!

Could it be VALSE OUBLIEE No. 1? There's a MIDI version at this web site http://www.midiworld.com/liszt.htm .

Or it might be GNOMENREIGEN, one of the TWO CONCERT ETUDES. The score can be downloaded here http://www.sheetmusicarchive.net/dlpage.cfm?composition_id=1543 .

MacDuff is right; it's the second of the Two Concert Etudes, Gnomenreigen.
