how do you play or practise the opening bars of chopins etude in thirds??? 24 35 i have on my copy but it seems so difficult!!!


(im not planning on attmepting this etude (its too advanced) but i am just curiou!)

If you have the same technique at the piano that you have at the computer keyboard, I suggest you consider drums... ;\)

Fingering is 1-4 2-5 alternating. The best thing to do is to learn the passages first. They're minor thirds crawling up chromatically. Once you can do the passages going up and down at an even tempo with all notes striking at the same time, then this etude becomes a whole lot easier.

It takes a lot of slow practice going 1-4 2-5 at about 60. In the beginning I only took about 5-10 minutes a day to do the first two bars because my hand would get tired.

No. It's too cumbersome to do that.

Fingering for the ascending third chromatics should be 1-3, 2-4, 1-5, 2-3, 2-4 (slide the 2), 1-3, repeat as needed.
