Here's a video of Jack Gibbons (famous Gershwim interpreter) playing K.27:

That was a bit fast for my taste. Michelangeli is also available as a video.

K. 27 is one of the 30 Essercizi published during Scarlatti's lifetime in England. Valenti had an edition of these pieces available from Schirmer. Kalmus (who took over their list?) had a collection of 60 or so sonatas that included K. 27 (probably listed there as Longo 449).

There's something going on in this piece that virtually nobody seems to pick up on. You'll notice that during some repeated figuration (arpeggios in one hand; cross hand jumping to opposite ends of the keyboard in the other) Scarlatti directs that you change hands, even though the music is the same. I read that as an implicit instruction for someone using a two-manual harpsichord. Play all of the left hand lines with a slightly different character from the right hand ones. Think about it, if you decide to learn this piece.

Victor,

I'd be happy to send a photo of the score as an e-mail attachment. Tried PM'ing you, but that function seems not to be working.
