We have to put a quote in our yearbooks, so I want to put something musical, but I dont know any good music quotes that are under 80 characters (including spaces). Got any ideas?

Just any old music quote, or do you have something specific in mind that you want it to say?

A wonderful collections of musical instrument jokes (and quotes) can be found here:

http://www.mit.edu/~jcb/jokes/

Some samples:

Why is an 11-foot concert grand better than a studio upright?
Because it makes a much bigger kaboom when dropped over a cliff.

Why was the piano invented?
So the musician would have a place to put his beer.

Have fun,

George

How about this one for your yearbook:

"Great music is that which penetrates the ear with facility and leaves the memory with difficulty. Magical music never leaves the memory."

Might not quite be what you're looking for, but here's one of my favourites:

"The present-day composer refuses to die." -- Edgard Varèse

You can't possibly hear the last movement of Beethoven's Seventh and go slow.

I was intrigued by this one on Sams website:

"Bad music disturbs me, but wonderful music disturbs me even more."

There are three kinds of pianist - Jewish pianists, homosexual pianists, and bad pianists.
Vladimir Horowitz, pianist (himself two of the three)

I didn't know he was gay

This is the one I liked.

On stage there are too many distractions. You feel you have to prove yourself to your audience. So you are tougher with yourself, rather than being able to love yourself, the music, your audience.
