Rachmaninoff music recommendation

Hello all,
I've been mostly practicing Chopin for the past several years, but decided to experience Rachmaninoff more. The fact is that I don't know much about his solo piano pieces. I've learned prelude in g (23-5) and Elegie, but that's it. Could any of you recommend me some good (and famous) solo pieces to practice? My level is between intermediate and advanced.

I prefer the op 32 preludes in general but op23 #4 is right up there.

pianoloverus: I don't think this is reasonable advice.From personal experience, the following are eminently doable for someone who has made a reasonable job of 23/5: Op23 Nos 1/3/4/6/10 Op32 Nos 2/5/7/9/10/11/12 Some people find different things difficult, so I am sure not everyone would agree with this selection. But I would definitely recommend leaving Op23 Nos 2/7/8/9, etc, for a later date than those listed above -Michael B.

The Polichinelle is an excellent piece for people looking to break into Rachmaninoff's world. It used to be very popular - I don't know why it's not played more often now.
Among the preludes, the ones people typically begin with are the more popular - Op. 23#4 as several have already suggested, and Op. 23#5 (g minor) and Op. 32 #5 (G Major), #10 (b minor) and #12 (g# minor.)
Of the Etudes, the g minor (Op. 33#7) and Eb Major (Op. 33#6) are probably the best to start with.

Thank you all for the excellent advices! I might have misled some by saying "famous". I just thought I might start with some well-known pieces to begin with. :p
Someone also recommended me the prelude Op.3 No.2. I'll listen your recommendations from youtube and decide. Thanks again! :-)

im so glad someone brought up the D major prelude, it's one of my favorites of rachmaninoff's.
