I have always been a fan of the witty cartoons in The New Yorker. One of my favorite cartoons had a caption that read, "Of course you'll be depressed if you compare yourself with SUCCESSFUL people!."

In my own life, I have overheard humorous comments in conversations in the street that would belong nicely in a New Yorker cartoon. For example, here a two:

- "My life is the complete opposite to everything the word 'whatever' represents."

- "Sunglasses have been, like, my whole life."

The New Yorker has a searchable database of cartoons at their website, and of course I typed in the word 'piano' to see what I would find. A few of my favorites:

-Child to audience as he sits down at grand piano to begin concert: "And now, God help us all, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto in c minor."

-Lounger sitting at the piano, to audience: "This song is very difficult for me emotionally. Plus, the chords are hard."

-Pianist to audience: "Hey, how about those darn Mets. But seriously, folks - Liszt's Sonata in b minor."

-Man who is standing naked in full frontal nudity says to woman who is lying in bed reading a book: "You liked it in 'The Piano.'"

Here is the link. Enjoy!

The real life examples are amazing. Hard to believe they did not come from New Yorker cartoons!
