Heard her play the Rachmaninoff concerto number one this past Saturday with the Downey Symphony and was very impressed. She was flawless and soulful and the orchestra also played very well.I drove 60 miles to hear them and it was totally worth it.If you get a chance to see Pauline Yang, take it.I also recommend the Downey symphony a very fine orchestra that recently lost their biggest backer Downey savings so they need a lot of support.I found out about the concert through the orchestras principal horn player Ron Applegate who I called to work for me.Ron couldn't do my dates but hipped me to the concert. The planets aligned and my gig was over at 5 so I was able to take my son to have a wonderful time. The Rachmaninoff 1st is rarely performed so I hope Ms. Yang takes it all over for people to hear.I just thought people ought to know. Thanks

I didn't know of Pauline Yang, but I'm glad to read your review. She may be unknown to others here too, and Downey even more so—though I know there are some Karen Carpenter fans in this group! My hometown is a just a few miles away.

Why did you believe you had posted this in the wrong forum?

Steven

I originally posted on Piano forum and it was moved before you saw it.After hearing Ms. Yang my 15 year old son told me that he would never be able to do what she did.I told him that I felt that way at his age and have surpassed many of the older players that I held such awe for.He just needs to keep doing what he's doing.I think he got the picture.
