Hi, folks:

Any idea where I can find the Op. 16 preludes by Scriabin... or even if they're published together in a single volume?

I checked in my local music store (which has almost never let me down) and we cruised their computer but we couldn't find any complete set. Their computer set-up was bizarre, though, searches brought up things like "Prelude", no key, no opus, no number, priced from $10 to about $14.

Thanks
Nina

dover publishes the complete preludes and etudes in one book. it should be easy to find on the internet or at any music store.

Hi, Rodion:

Sorry for my delay in responding, I was out of town.

Thanks for letting me know about the Dover edition. Do you have it or have seen it? I am generally not a fan of the Dover editions because I've found they don't want to lay flat at all, and often the engraving is blurry or the ink is smeary (or perhaps I'm just getting old!).

But if this is the only version, I'll take it!

Thanks again
Nina

i agree about the problems with the dover books - i do have this book it's fairly large so i think it takes less work getting it to lay flat. the notes are actually quite clear and neatly laid out too. it's only $12.95 so i think you can't really go wrong with it.

Thanks, Rodion-- I've heard that you can take your books to Kinko's or equivalent and have them drilled and spiral-bound so they will lay flat. I've never tried this but have been tempted.

I concur with Rodion - I had a couple of my books (music and chemistry) spiral bound at Kinko's. It's been a godsend indeed.

Rodion/Chemical Grl:

I did get several of my large books spiral-bound at Kinko's. It is truly a godsend!

At last I can play my Haydn Sonatas without using clothes pins, other books and/or fans to keep the pages flat on the music stand.

I highly recommend this for anyone else who has the same problem.

Thanks
Nina
