When I was developing my weak left hand(my left hand is developed now, but I still have room to improve. I had my left hand so bad where I could hardly move my 5th or 4th fingers and I would slip off the keys when ever I was using my 4th finger), I was experimenting with 4th and 3rd finger trills. I made up some exercises. Along with that, I practiced scales repetitively. Later, I practiced some runs and a couple etudes.

I don't know if this will help you achieve some dexterity, but it helped me:

Hold your hand out in mid air. With your 4th finger only, try to touch your palm. Then wiggle it up and down, up and down, keeping your 4th finger closest to your palm as possible. Who knows, you MIGHT actualy feel something.

Another one, which is similiar, is where you place your 3rd finger out and try to reach your palm and then raise the finger tip up to the part where your 3rd finger is connected to your hand, then open your hand. This is all to be done in one quick motion- and repetively.

Just something I made up :0

I don't know if it's in the books already wink

At around 1900 finger gymnastics were very popular. Gat, Ridley Prentice, Jackson, cowling, Macdonald Smith and Fielden were some people who published about them. Try a Google. You should get some interesting results. I don't put much store by them though.

I was thinking of inventing it! Shucks, thanks wr. Sadly the fingers he's not using seem tense. I'll check it out after work.
