I'm gving my (last) required solo recital at CCM on Tuesday the 20th. Program:

Messiaen - Vingt Regards nos. 7, 18, and 19
Chopin - Andante Spianato and Polonaise, op. 22
Prokofiev - Sonata #8

I will post mp3s later in the week.

If anyone is in the Cincinnati area, PM me if you'd like to come.

Brendan, that sounds like an absolutely wonderful program, but of course I cannot come...I will very much look forward to the mp3's, however. Good luck, as if you need any lol.

Ah, we all need a bit o'luck. Fred just finished reading the Pabal Casals biography and was amazed at Casal's admitted stage fright that apparently never left him.

Good luck, Brendan. If you start thinking nervously of the audience, just remember the horse butt! That should be enough to re-focus.

Good luck, Brendan. I wish I could see and hear you play. My wife is twisting my arm to visit the States for one of the ragtime festivals. I have a heck of a lot of long service leave and if the exchange rate weren't so discouraging I'd do it, and hear one or two people from the forum at the same time.

Lots of luck, Brendan. Kill the wounded and take no prisoners. Btw, have you ever seen Horowitz play the Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise in the video, "Horowitz: a Reminiscence?" He seemed to be on his best behavior. I imagine he had a soft spot for op. 22.

Like the program. Number 7 is a good start to a recital. Why don't you try to work up # 6 for the recital? just kidding.

Best of luck. I have to work that day, otherewise I would love to be there.

Heh.

It's already in the mix. As soon as I have it (i.e., not anytime soon), I can start doing 1-10 in recital.

Good luck, Brendan! Wish I could attend. I'll let my former teacher know. I'm sure he'd like to hear your program.

Nina, I think that was "UMKC" (Univ of Missouri at Kansas City, Missouri) rather than "Kansas" or "KU" (Univ of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, 40 miles to the west.)

It can be confusing. smile

Good luck with that; I love Messiaen and Prokofiev and Chopin. Wonderful program, and I hope your playing is just as wonderful!
