This idea is copied from other threads I've read, but a bit different:

Instead of just preludes, if you could play ONE etude, scherzo, concerto, mazurka, nocturne, ballade, impromptu, etc. by Chopin PERFECTLY from each type (in other words, choose one scherzo, one etude, etc.) what would it be?

Here's a little list for me:

Etude: Op. 25 no. 11
Scherzo: First one
Concerto: Tough choice, but I'd probably have to go with the first

Well, that's my litte list. Let's see what your favorites are! (And of course, if you wish to branch out to other composers as well that is fine but then this thread might be a bit long!!)

Chopin:

Etude: Opus 25 Winter Wind Etude (no. 11)
Ballade: Fourth Ballade
Sonata: Third Sonata
Polonaise: Polonaise-Fantasie

If I could play any piece out there (by any composer):

Beethoven Opus 111
Schubert B flat major posthumous sonata
Albeniz Iberia (all of it)

Can't say I've listened to the complete works but from what I have heard:

Concerto: F Minor
Sonata: Bb Minor (Haven't heard the others ;P)
Étude: Either Op.25 No.11 or Op.10 No.3 (think how cool it would be to play that one better than anyone else, ever)
Nocturne: Haven't listed to them often enough to have a definite favourite
Mazurka: Same as above
Scherzo: Either No.2 or No.3 (Haven't heard the fourth one)
Ballade: Only heard No.4
Polonaise: Heroique
Impromptu: Fantasie-Impromptu

Not to be a spoil-sport, but isn't this basically the same idea as the 'What's your favourite work from each Chopin genre' thread?
