"CD" "View" "Entertainment" ?

What exactly are you looking for? How do you "view" a CD?

What sort of "entertainment" value do you want?

I think the original poster meant DVDs or VCDs even though VCDs/SVCDs are not likely what the poster had in mind...

I meant DVDs. Sorry about that! Specificially, some real entertaining ones where the pianist is doing all kinds of bizarre body movements.

Did Lang Lang or Andre Watts ever make any DVD's? I think that's what ilikemozart is looking for. ;\)

The most entertaining for me is The Art of the Piano. No excessive motion, though. Just little bits of the greatest pianistic artistry on film. My favorite moment was watching Cortot talk his way through Schumann. Mesmerizing.

I forget the name, but I remember my teacher showing me a DVD with Evegeny Kissin, Lang Lang, and 8 others on there. I will ask her tommorow, unless anyone knows the name of it.

There are a series of 3 DVD's available covering all 5 of Beethoven's Piano Concertos. The pianist is the Frenchman Duchable, it was filmed at the Palace of Versaille, France.
It includes, not only a private performance of each concerto, but loads of extras such as a music lesson by Duchable, breaking down the piano parts and even playing some parts on an exact replica of Beethoven's pianoforte to see how it would have sounded to him.
I got all 3 DVD's and highly recommend them.

Sounds like he wants some kind of piano circus act.

LL has this very successful DVD "Lang Lang Live at Carnegie Hall" that contains both a DVD and an audio CD.

I'm not sure about Andre Watts. Years ago he performed 3 concerti during one anniversary concert that was broadcasted across the nation that I recorded with more than decent quality.

The Five Browns

This is both a cd and dvd. I found it very entertaining and would recommend it. Good Luck.

Could you please be a little more specific? I don't know what you're talking about. I have this DVD and did not notice anything strange. Just the playing is generally rather bland.

More info on this one please? I'm quite interested. Is this for European markets only?

That's a CD, and it's available in the United States. Click on the image below:

20/21 customer reviews on Amazon.com gave this collection 5 stars. One review gave this collection 3 stars.

I would definately rate it 5 stars, with two big thumbs up. It's wonderful.

Thnx pianojerome,

I was thinking of some sort of DVD. Yes, This is one of the absolute 'must have's of all audio CDs. I have this one. For the 2nd, I still hold Richter's stellar performance as the highest achievement of great pianism.

I wish there were a DVD of this!

Hmmm... I LOVE Claudio Arrau's DVD of the Schumann Concerto, Carnaval, and Beethoven Sonata No. 32 (with Solomon playing Beethoven's Appassionata as a bonus).

Gilels' DVD of the Tchaikovsky Concerto is also very, very good, but I do wish he had recorded Brahms, too!

To Andrew G,

I've read that some of the audio on a few of these etudes is out of sync with the hands, on review board @ Amazon.

Here's the link, don't know if it's really true.
There's a second in case the first doesn't work.
