I have looked at several online piano action diagrams, and have yet to find the name of the pin that is in the hammer butt. Is this the center pin? It has been suggested to me that I repin a wobbly hammer but I need to make sure I get the right part. Any suggestions on how to determine the correct size of a larger pin? I am going to buy Arthur Reblitz rebuilding book, but I am sure it will come AFTER I buy several parts I need.

The correct name you're lokking for is 'centre pin' and they come in bags of 100g you will also need to determine the size of the old pin with a micrometer or guage. The pins size can only be determined by its tightness in the flange (see Reblitz on centring) therefore a number of sizes will have to be acquired along with flush cutters. Reaming the flange must be carried out very carefully as both sides must be reamed equally (oh! you must go to the expense of a de-centring tool). This all seems a great expense for just one hammer $100+ when a tuner/tech. would do this for peanuts on a regular visit. Reblitz's book is full of illustrations and when carried out to the letter can achieve good resuilts (with plenty of patience. :p

I would advise you to let a tech re-pin this for you. It takes a bit of experience to determine what size pin is needed and how tight it should be - and as stated above- buying the tools and parts to do this right will cost more than a tech would charge.
