I am about a hammer +shanks change on an old Steinway mod. B 1903.

There have been yet many things done, lately (15 years) a hammer set from Steinway was installed.

I was a little concerned with unevenness of tone, now way to have the treble lining well with the rest.

SO I finally measured the strike and find it between 1/8 and 1/9. (note 1 and 49)

I could glue at 1/9, (with hammers at 127 mm) but not at 1/8.

No problem with the treble, it is really in the medium and bass that 1/9 tone better than actually - the centering seems better also.

Any inside on what is better would help me .

PM If you feel it is necessary.

Thanks in advance.
