Hi there!
I have a 1965 Balwin R. I bought it a few years ago and I'm thinking of having it rebuilt. Is it worth it?
It has a beautiful french provincial case. I've tried to look it up and find one like it (same year, model, case, etc.) but to no avail.
Any info that any of you might have would be appreciated.

I posted a post on a STY (different thread)that is going to be rebuilt and was thinking of selling the Baldwin, but now, I'm not too sure if I want to let go of this piano. It would be so nice to have both!

I have a Baldwin from 1965. It is holding up well. The Rs I have tried have a very full sound compared to other pianos that size. I would think that a 40 year old Baldwin would benefit from new felts and bushings (which I had done to mine), regulation, new bass strings, and either reshaping & voicing of the hammers or new hammers. Everything else will probably still be good to go. Of course, alot would depend on the condition of your piano.

Of course, that's just my opinion, and I am a mediocre player - not a technician.

Baldwins were well built pianos, and turn out as well as any when properly rebuilt.

Pianos in this part of the country suffer much more than those in the Southwest, and so they usually need more work.
