I am about to restore a 1902 Bell "Cabinet Grand" upright piano, made in the Guelph Ontario workshop. Its quite a piece, it's got a beaver carved into the top! (I mentioned this in the "beaver fever" thread in the piano forum.) There is a beautifully written "Bell piano company" and Its trademark two bells on the inside of the keyboard cover as well as "cabinet grand" written on the fallboard. I do not want to take this writing off in the refinishing process, but I think if I leave it as is it will look bad next to the nice red refinished mahogany. I also considered taking a digital picture of the writing to have a professional re-write the words, but I don't know if that will work nicely. What do piano restorers do in this situation? confused

Try "Decals unlimited" and see if they already have such a decal - else go the digital route

HammerMan, sounds like a terrific piano! Hope the restoration goes good! I recently came across an old upright I could not pass up, an 1897 Fischer in Tiger Oak. It is nice to see a few other people on this board who appreciate some of the old uprights. . .

There are several Bell decals on this page of pianosupply.com's website: http://www.pianosupply.com/decals/bec-bog.jpg

Be sure and post some pictures of your piano, looking forward to seeing it!
