Inquiring minds want to know -

How are the pianos at the Whitehouse cared for and and who does it?

Do they have a damp chasers?

How often are they tuned and who does it?

Anyone know what kind of piano the Obamas have at home in Chicago?

Slow down and do it right.

Knowing our government and it's thinking, I would guess they have a secret agent or military guy with clearance, trained specially, that does the high level people. I doubt many people are allowed in the inner chambers of the Bush or Cheney compounds or vacation homes around the world.

I would suspect that Steinway still has a hand in it.

My favorite picture of the White House Steinway is the one in Music Is My Mistress, with Duke Ellington and Willie The Lion Smith playing 4-hands, Willie with his derby hat and cigar.

Bush wanted to pose in front of that smashed white/gold grand in one of SH's palaces(the picture that was shown at the beginning of the war)when he made his "mission accomplished" speech. But someone warned him he might lose some votes from PW members.

"The piano in the White House is a Steinway D. The technician that works on it is named Dave Campbell. He drives a white van with a vanity plate: PIANO DR
When I had to have some work done on my Steinway ...sent Mr. Campbell to me to get it done. He told me about working on the White House piano and that he had to get special security clearance to be able to bring his tools in with him."
