I have several questions regarding a Young Change G-185 that I thought some of the technicians here could provide "expert" advice. Also posted this in the regular forum threat.
Purchased the piano in '86 as my first piano, and it appeared to be a great value at the time. It subsequently was "left behind" with my ex-wife and kids, as the kids were all playing the piano.
And as you might expect, it was not really maintained the way it should have been. Now that my ex-wife has passed away, the executor (oldest son) is trying to place a value on the piano, in terms of valuing the estate, and they're trying to determine whether to keep or sell.
The piano's tone is okay, and probably needs a little work in addition to just tuning. The F# key directly above middle C,itself was broken off (never seen that, just the black above the key...) The exterior gloss/shine (black ebony) has been maintained, so from a visual perspective it still looks just like brand new, however.
1. Any thoughts/ideas on what the value of the piano, "as is", or where to go to determine the value, for purposes of estate valuation would be greatly appreciated.
2. If it was to be sold, what would a reasonable price be, assuming that the executor had it tuned, key fixed, and worked on to bring back the tone?
Thanks so much in advance for your feedback and advice.
