After all my, too much after the fact, research I think I purchased the wrong baby. Got a K&C model KIG 47 in Jan., 07 manufactured in Indonesia Sept., 2002. It did have a player, that had been removed, has a bass sustain pedal however, it was/is still disconnected (I'm working on that) also, it has a few cosmetic scars which I can live with. Other wise it seems to be Ok. It does seem to have a higher pitch or twinge/reverberation on the middle & higher notes that is alittle anoying. Bass seems Ok. "The Piano Book" doesn't have any encouraging views. Not to much info in the "Pierce Piano Atlas" either. Wondering if anybody out there in the piano community has any experience or information (good or bad) they could share with me on this particular model? If so would appreciate hearing from you.

The problem with the harmonic noise will be difficult to diagnose without actually playing your piano. Ditto with the problem with the bass sustain. I have never made use of a bass sustain pedal and for 999 out of 1000 pianists, or more, its loss is of no import.
I've seen some K&Cs but not your particular model, and thought they were quite good in quality. Larry Fine says that Indonesian-made K&Cs should stand up to home use, if not institutional use.
From what you've posted, you are not unhappy with the sound of your piano, for the most part. I would suggest that when you have a technician in to tune it, that you also have him or her spend some time regulating and chasing down the unpleasant noises. The technician can tell you how to put your bass sustain right, or do it for you.

I agree -- the bass sustain pedal is virtually worthless.

In my experience, the recent Kohler & Campbell pianos are shipping to the customer with hammers not mating to the strings- imagine having a hammer hitting two of the strings, sympathetically causing the third to vibrate out of phase in intereference with the others because the third string which the hammer missed is sitting higher than the other two. On this particular piano- about 80% of the trichords had their left-most string higher than the other two. It is a little annoying- however the condition makes it difficult to get a clean unison when tuning it. I have no clue as to wheather this would be covered under warranty, but you should have your tech check for this particular problem.
Another problem I've had with the Indonesian pianos is the pedal trapwork spiral springs buzz/rattle in their mortises- I saw a Kawai with a felt bushing cloth woven thru the coils on these springs to prevent this, I thought this was a very elegant solution.
I also thought the K+C was nice, but really needs the string levelling and hammer voicing to be acceptable.

Just wondering, if you all think the bass sustain is next to useless, why was it manufactured with a bass sustain. granted I'm not much of a pianist, but I always liked having and using it. Still working on finding the parts to reconect the pedal. Samick, never even respond to my e-mail regarding parts needed.
