On my K&C KIG 47 I find that the bass sustain had been removed to accomidate a player system. The middle pedal & vertical rod is still inplace. All other levers gone. Since the player has been removed, is it possible to reconnect the bass sustain function? If so, how complicated is this procedure? All inputs appreciated.

The job should be relatively simple. Sounds like all that is needed is the lever to connect pedal to rod plus monunting bracket/s. Just copy the existing pedal assemblies. Look at how they are mounted and connected to the pedals, bottom board and rod. Cut a new lever from similar wood with the same grain orientation. Mount and attach it the same as the others. You will need to make the new one fit so the length will differ from the others. There should be evidence or some impression of where and how the original was mounted to the bottom board. I do not know of anyone who uses the bass sustain. I have converted the middle pedal to operate a felt mute strip. Many times they are deliberately disconnected.

Aviator, You could also try contacting Samick Music Corp. I would almost bet they would have the above mentioned replacement parts available in stock for sell.
Worth a try.....

Contact your local player installer. He should have several lying around. My question is why would you want/need a bass sustain pedal function any way?

Thanks for all the replies.. I'm not much of a piano player, but my thoughts if I have three pedals, they should work. Apparently the KIG 47 originated with a bass sustain, therefore I think it should be there and able to function as intended.

No reply from Samick regarding the parts I requested to reconnect the bass sustain pedal. Probably because I wasn't able to describe what I wanted correctly. Does anybody have a diragram/picture of how the lever reaches over to the bass section. I see how the other two work, but not certain what kind of bracket or how the lever is supposed to be routed over to where the small rod goes up to raise that section of the bass or what kind of springs will be needed. Also can anyone recommend a good piano parts supply that would be knowledgeable of what I will need on this K&C KIG47 piano to reconnect this middle pedal. Hopefully, with all the help from the Forum I maybe able to accomplish this reconnection project. Thanks..

Trapwork for a specific model of piano is likely only to be available from the manufacturer, and may still require some fitting.
