I am an American living and working in Baku in the former USSR and want to buy a Grand Piano. We have many old Russian Pianos the best I found is a St. Petersburg Schoeder circa 1910... Any info on these Pinaos or Old Russian Pianos in generial?

thanks
Frank Braccia

Schroeder may be the oldest piano roaker in Russia, going back to the late 18th century, began importing from Germany then made in St. Petersburg starting around 1840. Were aclaimed during the time of Glinka (before 1850), later superceded by Becker. Hard to tell how good they are, but if it suits your purposes where you are, maybe it will have to do.
