Hello to all you string stretchers from a newbie. I've been reading the forums for the past few weeks and especially enjoy this one, getting the techs viewpoints. Now, since we've all met, I need some expert advice and info. Rebuilding a Baldwin SA, 1966 ( I think the most basic grand they ever built ) and was wanting ideas concerning the stringing scale. This piano has a history of string breakage in the treble, possibly due to its lifetime residence in a night club, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this model. Probably a limited number built. Due to the absence of a stringing scale I measured the strings before disassembly and since so many had been replaced with the wrong guage wire, I don't have a clue as to what the scale should be. Therefore it wouldn't hurt my feelings if someone wanted to furnish this info or even your thoughts of improving the scale assuming you think it could be without any overall effects. Thanks for allowing me to join the forums.

Hi Rkn88,you didn't give a serial #,but if this is an SA scale without accu-just hitch pins the scale is as follows.Treble wire sizes: #13-4,#13.5-4,#14-4,#14.5-5,#15-6,#15.5-6,#16-6,#16.5-8,#17-6,#18-4,#19-2,#20-2,#21-2.If it is later and has accu-just hitch pins ,e-mail me for the scale.I hope this helps.

Curry,
Thank you very much. I used to have a scale book but someone forgot to return it to me. I have been gone a few days or I would have responded sooner. Hope I can return the favor sometimes.
