Hi,

I would like to know if the heating rod actually absorb moisture or only bring down the RH by producing heat but moisture remain. If that is the case, won't the heat damage the parts in the piano.

I don't know that much about the physics of how heat reduces RH without removing moisture, but my own experience shows that in a "climatised" vertical, which is basically sealed, the temperature rises approximately 15 degrees over ambient. This is using two 25 watt moisturemaster rods connected to a humidistat.

I know temperature can affect piano stability, but think its a distant second to RH problems.

The heating rod treats the vertical piano much like ab OLD house out on the Prarie in the middle of the winter. Without insulation and a vapor barrier to stop it, the warm moist air( by the process of osmoses) wants to go where it isn't so warm and damp. In other words, out of the piano.
