I am considering a new Kawai RX-6 but I would be purchasing it from a Kawai dealer who primarily sells low end. Will this piano arrive from Kawai pretty much already prepped or will it require much work?.

Many thanks for any input you can offer,
Steve

I dont think that can be answered, Steve. I have seen Kawais out of the box that barely needed to be tuned. And I've seen others that needed to be pitch raised. So, we are talking about variation in instruments. Add to that the level of performance that you expect (vs. other customers of the dealership), and that makes it truly impossible to answer. It would be a good idea for you to discuss what you expect with the dealer, and agree ahead of time what will (and wont) be done as part of the purchase price.....Sam

I would venture, that like nearly all pianos, this one will have not been prepped to any great degree.

That is, flagrant problems may have been addressed but no in-depth work is typically done at a dealer. You should still expect to tune 4 times the first year and ideally, to make use of its greatest potential I would have a good Tech spent 4-8 hours reworking both the action and the tone; thereby raising the whole piano much closer to its true musical potential.
