Being new to pianos, I've learned some lessons the hard way. The best advice I can give to anyone like myself without experience is don't be in a hurry to buy. The first piano I bought was used and turned out to be very unsatisfactory. I returned it. I then decided on a new Yamaha M500. It sounded satisfactory in the store but when it arrived there was more than just a change in sound..... the middle pedal was defective, the wood underneath the keys was frayed and the entire piano wobbled - no stability. I returned it in a hurry and upgraded to a P22. I'm much more satisfied with this one. I've only found that 2-3 keys sound pretty twangy. I trust that this can be corrected with the first tuning in 3 weeks. Any advice?

Play it as much as you can before the technician comes to tune, so that way you will be prepared to let the person know about any small problems you may want looked at. The twangy sounds might just be the “out of tune” a piano gets when moved.
