I just ran into this problem for the first time.
My question will be what are the possible outcomes of repairing? Is it as simple as just replacing the brackets?
Serial #g056547 model G-175 MP Piano looks good.
Young Chang, according to several techs, and the factory had a severe problem with the action brackets expanding. The Current Young Chang company has sent me replacement brackets for the young chang grand (nice of them). Upon repairing, as I am sure many of you have had to do this, will I experience any other maladies. Did not pay very much for the grand and am wondering if the expense of repair is worthy.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

You should regulate once the brackets have been replaced. After all, the action may have been adjusted for the bad brackets. But it is probably something that should be done anyway.

Scott,
Replacing the brackets is straightforward, just screwing everything in place. You should then have the piano regulated.

You may have to use longer screws than the originals for some of the bracket legs. They are not an exact duplicate of the originals.
The main thing is to make sure you have the action spread at the proper distance. I did a replacement job in the spring and had good luck, and was happy to find that lots of odd clicking noises disappeared once everything was back to normal.

Eric,
You're right about the screws. I've also had to provide some shims to make the brackets fit correctly.
On one of them that I did, there was alot of clicking of the hammer tails on the wippen assist spring assembly until I regulated the blow distance up a few mm.
I hope Scott's is straightforward, since I'll be doing the work!
