I'm looking at purchasing a 1977 Danamann Upright piano. 115cm. Went and had a look at it yesterday and the tone is lovely, however the bottom couple of notes are dead (no resonance). Also one of the black middle keys sticks down. Are these easy things to fix? Is Danemann an ok brand?

l tune a lot of daneman pianos ,for my money they made the best upright school piano period! they are well constructed, have a good action and hold their tune beautifully. there is no such thing as the perfect piano and the daneman has not got the best bass end.that said, they are a good "honest" piano and like dan said it wont be a lot of work to sought out this piano...a word of warning..the company went bust in the late seventies and the name has been used again recently (chinese?)DO NOT CONFUSE WITH REAL THING!!

thanks for that. i did end up buying it in the end. i'll leave it a couple of weeks before getting someone around to look at it, but the bottom notes sound fine now, and i temporarily fixed the sticking key by holding down the notes on each side and wiggling it.

Greetings esawers, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your excellent choice of piano. The Danemann piano is a lovely piano with a warm, sweet sound. It has been very wet here in Auckland over the past months and the sticking black key is most probably related to the high humidity levels we have been experiencing. Please pm me if you need advice for good technical help for your piano. Best wishes,
Robert.
