I was prepping a coule of Yamaha C5s in a room which has good lighting this week (as opposed to the dungeon I usually work in) and I noticed that the bridge cap for the treble section was a different colour to the rest of the bridge. Turns out they use Boxwood for the top section but Maple for the rest of the bridge/s. Can anyone tell me the advantage of Boxwood for this section. I assume it's something to do with the higher frequencies and the density of the timber?

I realise they've probably been doing it this way for a while, but I've never seen the bridge in decent lighting before frown
