I recently upgraded from a 6'4" grand to a 7'2" grand. I removed my dampp chaser from the old piano and hope to have my technician install it in my new piano. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you may have to use two units on larger pianos. Does anyone know this to be true? I hope I don't need a second one because it would be another $500 and a second tank to fill!

It depends on your local environment, but yes, generally 7' pianos require two tanks, and sometimes even 6' ones. No, it shouldn't cost $500 more, and there's still just one filler hose; the two tanks are interconnected. So you fill them less often, if anything.

The number and wattage of heater rods may also need to be adjusted. There are a variety of components that are customized for each installation.

Check with your tech.
