What do you think of the Young Chang uprights?
II think they are made in Korea
Is there any common problems that you have seen?

Thanx

wannasteinway - I played, for the first time, a Young Chang grand (a bit short of 6ft I believe) this past weekend on a gig - I was impressed with the piano. It had the bright upper - C on the treble staff and above (like a lot of asian/oriental pianos); along with a nice mid section that did not get too muddy when close-voicing chords, and a decent bass - a little weak but not dead - but not the steinway thunder either. Overall I'd say it was a nice piano - better than most. I don't know what it cost but I liked the piano. But it was not a steinway. I've never played their uprights and I'm not familiar with any common problems they might/might not have - can't help you there.

Ive had to re-bush sostenuto rods on more than one Young Chang within its first five years of life.
Are you saying you dont wanna steinway then?

Young Chang uprights are usually very bright and loud. The quality ranges from below average to average. Some action issues including poor flange pinning. Generally slightly better build quality than Samick, but not always. The newer Chinese pianos in general have a better build quality to them than the older Korean products.

Young Chang's Pramberger is usually above average and some are quite nice. Their Bergman brand has a very poor build quality and I don't recommend them.
