We've been discussing the new Suzuki pianos on another thread, but none of us has any direct experience w/them. Anyone here work on/tune one of the new grands? Appreciate any insight you can offer.

I'm not a piano tech but I do own the 5'2" model. As I have posted previously I have been quite happy with the purchase. I was reading the thread by "Beaglelover" previously and posted this reply on this thread as that seems to have degenerated into a flame fest. Suzuki contracted with a local piano tech in my area, to tune and regulate the piano after purchase. The technician had to do very little regulation according to him. I have owned it almost 1 year and have only had one problem with the fallboard being mounted a little too low (the little U shaped holder the pin sits in). I contacted Suzuki about this and within 1 day a piano tech in the area (these piano techs have their own business and no affiliation with Suzuki other than the business relationship set up for local repairs) contacted me to come and fix it. The repair is currently scheduled so I can't really comment further.

I cringed a little when I first read Beaglelover's post as I too thought Suzuki was planting posts on the forum, but it seems that isn't the case. As I have said before, the purchase was right for me as was the arrangement with Costco. I wouldn't recommend it for most people necessarily, as there is some inherent risk. I don't, however, feel the Suzukis deserve near the bad rap they have on this forum.
