Call a technician to fix it. It may be covered under a warranty, as the piano looks new.

It's possible that one of the center pins in the wippen or jack has worked its way out and is catching on the side of an adjacent hammer.

However, I agree with BDB, you should really call a technician for service, as this probably isn't a fix you can do yourself.

Look to me like a Pianic Polish action, with plastic flanges, they tend to get sluggish in time , probably because of lesser quality center pin)

Is it only the hammer or does is the key too tight (not enough play) That is at 99% a tight center pin problem, you can't do much by yourself out of installing the piano in a dryer place - but it is not that long to correct as long as only a few are concerned.
Problem is if the action have that tendancy, it may be necessary to treat/check all centers, because if only the offending ones are changed or lubricated, or whatevered, and other continue to get sluggish , you will get mad !

What is the brand / model ?(this is useful info to readers) does condition changed recently ? How old is the piano ? Even good brand actions can develop sluggish centers, but some are more prone than others. A guarantee issue , as stated.

Thanks for the help as far posted.

The piano was bought second hand around 18 years ago. It's a Zimmerman upright. Model? I don't know, but will find out if told where to look.

I assumed it was something I couldn't sort out my self, but just wanted to make sure.

Thanks again for your input.

paul.

Indded a Pianic action ! I win !!!
\:\)
better check the pinning intensively and correct as many as possible, it can take a few hours.

Sometime using a special lube (CLP) on the bushing may work, but I've find that on those Pianic actions it does not (plastic flanges). so only reaming and using a new center will correct the sluggish centers.

On very worn action, there is also a worn cloth at the low end of the damer blade that can stop hammers as on the picture (the spoon is buried in the cloth) . But your action does not look like it is so worn at first sight.

Is there a change with hammer return when the sustain pedal is engaged ? if these are the centers, you will have more hammers not going back when the pedal is used.

Best Regards. At least you will now what to say to the technician before he comes by.

In the first and second picture you can see a silvery line going diagonally through the gap between the hammer lift and rest rails.
Is that a spring for the lift rail or a foreign object?
