I am working on an old Kimball console with plastic damper lever flanges. They are self destructing ofcourse. The problem is that I want to replace the flanges, but, they have the long springs on them, yet the screw hole and the locating bead which is cut into them are like the compact flange type. I can't find anyone who has the correct flanges to replace the plastic ones. Are they out there somewhere or do I need to modify something to work in their place?

Not even Schaff piano has what you're looking for?

That's rather surprising but then maybe there were a limited # of pianos with this particular style.

Of all the plastic parts in some older pianos, the damper flanges have caused the least problems as long as you don't tighten the flange screw or try to bend the damper wire. I did see one piano with very brittle flanges recently, however. How about trying a damper repair spring in place of the original spring? Those should be long enough to work, and are anchored by the flange screw.

A note, make sure this piano justifies replacing damper flanges. Sounds like a lot of work for a piano probably not worth much.
