Here's one use for classical music - chasing away teenagers. According to a newspaper report, "A SUPERMARKET chain has found the perfect way of getting rid of teenagers who hang around out-side intimidating staff and shoppers -the soothing sounds of classical music...Store manager Patricia Ryan took a decisive step by piping out the sounds of Bach and Beethoven, which soon restored peace to the troubled store."

That's horrible! I'm 15, and I love classical music. Don't get me wrong, I'm still into the really heavy death metal and stuff, but classical is great. I love to write and listen to instrumentals and the like. I'm into black metal too, which is a heavy metal/classical mix. Classical has lots of advantages. I have a lot of classical cds, and I'm not a loser at school either, lol. Silly newspaper article...

7-Eleven chain stores first adopted this idea back around the mid '80s to drive away kids hanging around. It was quite a success.

Often, teenagers fail to recognize the great effort and time put into classical music. I myself am 17, and I have found that even the "coolest" people in school have some innate love for classical music. Also, people find it hard to argue with "Do you think (so-and-so) will be around in 200 years?" I myself wish that stores would play more, and better classical music, instead of the bargain bin elevator music that is often heard.
