At one of my schools, we are naming the computer lab in honor of a teacher who died right before Christmas. She had cancer and fought it very bravely. Does anyone have a song that can be sung that would fit this ceremony? The only one I can think of is "Wind Beneath My Wings". It should not be a religious song as that was done at her funeral. I am hoping those of you that are more into pop music can help me. Thanks, RickG

"Goodbye My Friend" by Linda Ronstadt. It's on her "Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like The Wind" cd. Alot of choral groups do this one. It's a great song written by Karla Bonoff.

Rick, this may not be helpful if you need something appropriate for a group, but here's a really moving solo that's been recorded by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman:

"Time to Say Goodbye" (or Con Te Partiro, in Italian)

I've heard a lot of tunes in my 46 years, and this is one of my favorites. The verse melody is flowing and very tender, but the refrain is noble, and tragically majestic.

A beautiful number is "Fields of Gold" by Sting. A moving version was recorded by Sara Cassidy who died of breast cancer in her early years. It will move anyone to tears.
