1. He and Beethoven shared the same name: Ludwig. ?

2. Of his five symphonies, only one (the "Italian") has a nickname. ?

3. In spite of his fabulous abilities as composer, conductor and performer, Mendelssohn openly admitted that he couldn't "sing a note." ?

4. By the age of 12, he had composed five symphonies for strings and two operas. ?

5. A period of nearly 60 years lapsed between the first and second complete performance of Mendelssohn's opera "The Marriage of Camacho." ?

6. He was elected an honorary member of the London Philharmonic Society. ?

7. Mendelssohn's sister, Fanny, wrote some of the Songs Without Words that were published under his name. ?

8. His famous work "Hebrides Overture" is also known by another nickname, "Finnigan's Cave." ?

9. Mendelssohn married the daughter of a French Protestant clergyman. ?

10. Mendelssohn is credited with reviving European interest in the music of J. S. Bach. ?

1. I don't think so. His first name was Felix, AFAIK.

2. No. There's the Scottish, the Reformation and the Lobgesang (what's that in English?).

7. Yes.

10. Yes. He conducted the first performance of the St. Matthew Passion (I think) after Bach's death.

All the others I don't know.
