I've tried tons of instruments... classical guitar, electric guitar, bass, flute, even piano... and none of them has ever been more important to me than my beautiful cello... so deep, so romantic, so like me wink

C E L L O !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHO DOESN'T LOVE THE CELLO?

If you like cello, here's a great CD. Track #3, Faure's "Sicilienne", is one of the most beautiful cello solos I have ever heard. I don't believe this was originally written for cello. Give a listen. YOU WILL LOVE IT! TRUST ME.

P.S. I asked my husband if he would learn to play the cello, but he's not interested. frown

Cello is nothing without piano accompaniment.

I remember the first time I played with a chamber group I was utterly shocked at how simple the cello line was. I was playing four times the notes! It there anything difficult to it?

"Is there anything difficult to it?"

????????????????????????

It's impossible, in my opinion, to say one instrument is more or less difficult to play than another when one of the instruments falls into an entirely different "family" of instruments.

The playing techniques are so totally different - piano to cello.

Some things certainly may be compared and held as factual i.e. reading piano music requires some additional skill, for sure, compared to cello, because you read only one line of music for cello, but two for piano, BUT beyond that...

The technique for cello requires an entirely different set of abilities and skills and physical attributes than playing piano. Because of this, I'm of the opinion that it's not fair to pronounce either instrument "easier" or "more difficult" to play than the other.

The viola can speak and sing at the same time as well.

Cello is so beautiful--my younger brother plays it. Wonderful.

I played both violin and cello smile (but not at the same time! eek ) at various times in high school and college. Now add a piano to that (like the Eroica Trio); the audience better have plenty of kleenix; the playing of all three instruments together and beautifully can start a flood of tears.... frown

The cello in the range between middle C and the G above the former is one of the most beautiful things on earth. Cello all the way!

Random aside: is it just me or does the word "Cello" sound like a sort of jelly pudding?
